OBJECTIVES:

  1. To transfer knowledge and need-based technologies for utilization and adoption where most of the population resides;
  2. To initiate multi-stakeholder’s decision-making, community education and management of the environment;
  3. To conduct sectoral forum for effective dissemination of research-based knowledge and technologies in a form of IEC materials;
  4. To assist the communities in improving their quality of life with emphasis on the needs of humanity, protection of the environment, and relationship with God;
  5. To foster research-based extension programs, projects and activities (PPAs) in collaboration with local, regional, national and international agencies or civil organizations for complementing its technical and logistic capabilities;
  6. To conduct continuing education to faculty-extensionists and workers in order to organize pool of experts that shall package technologies and develop training modules;

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIRECTOR FOR EXTENSION:

  1. Collate all extension proposals from different academic departments and offices and facilitate the means for their timely implementation;
  2. Coordinate directly with faculty-extensionists in implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting of research programs, projects, and activities;
  3. Plan and propose to higher offices conceived strategies and means for effective implementation of charted extension agenda;
  4. Consolidate and summarize in a coherent report the accomplishment in all extension PPAs conducted during each quarter period of the year for further synthesis by the Vice President for RIE;
  5. Assist the RIE Division in establishing linkages and collaborations with local, national, and international agencies and civil organizations;
  6. Propose and initiate extension management and capacity-building activities that will enhance the faculty extension capabilities;
  7. Act as fund manager of the extension office both from internal and external sources;
  8. Coordinate with the Directorate for Innovation for possible commercialization, copyright, and/or patenting of extension outputs;
  9. Coordinate with the Directorate for Research for research initiatives and collaboration; and
  10. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by higher authorities.
