ABOUT

This Center is the hub for biodiversity monitoring and research, training and demonstration activities and the focal point in undertaking IEC campaign in coordination with the Convention on Biodiversity’s efforts in communication, education and public awareness.

VISION

To become the center for Integrated Coastal Resources Management in Mindanao. 

MISSION

To become an active partner in the Conservation, Rehabilitation and Protection of Coastal Resources in Mindanao.

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Monitoring and Documentation of stranded turtles, exhumation of turtle clutch of egg hatching along Dahican Beach; Meeting with the City Local Government on Pawikan Conservation Partnership Project.
  2. Monitoring and Documentation of stranded dolphins, whale shark, manta rays and other marine wildlife.
  3. Conducting an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign on the protection and conservation of Marine Megafauna.
  4. Weekly Monitoring on the artificial reefs at Sitio Manguihay, Brgy. Bobon.
  5. Monthly Monitoring and Mangrove Planting within Pujada Bay.

PROJECTS:

  1. Development of a Comprehensive Coastal Ecosystem Modeling, Mapping, and Monitoring System (CCEMMMS)
  2. Ridge to Reefs Modeling and Monitoring for Decision Support Systems (R2M2DS2)
  3. Mussels, Sea cucumber, seaweeds as Bio filters in an Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) System
  4. Fisheries Catch Assessment using GPS Tracker and Effort Survey of Municipal and Commercial
  5. Cost-effective technology for monitor and quantifying benthic area covered by marine litter in shallow coastal areas (MARINE LITTER)
  6. Population Genomics and Species Diversity of Reef Fishes between Sulu and Celebes Seas Biogeographic Regions (FISHDIVE)
  7. Information System for Marine Fishery Morphology and DNA Sequence in Mindanao (MABIDA)
  8. Macro- and Micro Plastic Pollution (M2P2) in Marine Ecosystems and Fisheries in South Eastern Mindanao
  9. Establishment of Artificial Reefs on selected sites of Pujada Bay through rrreefs – Rethinking, Rebuilding, and Regenerating Coral Reefs
  10. Mangrove Rehabilitation Program
